Playoff Volleyball will be returning to the University of St. Francis (USF) for the first time in almost a decade. The Fighting Saints will be taking on Indiana University of South Bend (IUSB) Titans at 7 p.m. at the Pat Sullivan Center.

During the regular season, the Saints accumulated 18 wins overall on the season including having a conference record of 14-4, the most wins in a conference season since 2016. That year was also the last time that the Saints won a playoff game, where they made it all the way to the NAIA national tournament.

Overall, USF finished second in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) standings, with the same record as Saint Xavier University (SXU), who they won a tiebreaker for second place. This allows them to host a quarter-final matchup in the tournament, while also having the possibility to host a semi-final matchup if USF wins against IUSB.

While the Saints are the higher seeded team, the teams are very evenly matched. The Saints have won one game against the Titans while also losing one, with the loss coming at home. The winner of that quarter-final game will play the winner of the SXU-IUN quarter-final game on Thursday, Nov. 13.

The Saints will still be without one of their starters again as junior right side Sarah Schmidt is still sidelined due to a concussion. They will look to rebound after what was a lackluster performance in that loss at home on Oct. 21.

Students are encouraged to show up to the volleyball game tonight and support the Saints in their quest for a CCAC conference title.

Correction: This story previously had USF listed as the third in the conference and #3 seed in the CCAC tournament after losing a tiebreaker with SXU. However, USF won the tiebreaker with SXU even though they were listed below them on the CCAC standings website, meaning USF finished second in conference and were the #2 seed in the CCAC tournament. This also allows them to host the semi-final match between USF and SXU as they are the higher seed, which was orginally in the story to take place at SXU.
