Joliet Fire and Police Commissioners Announce Special Meeting

The Council Chambers, located on the second level of Joliet City Hall at 150 West Jefferson Street, will host a special meeting of the City of Joliet Boards of Fire and Police Commissioners on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 5:30 PM. A number of significant issues pertaining to city operations and staff will be discussed at this meeting.

The public is welcome to attend, as is the case with all city meetings. If a citizen is unable to attend in person, they can send written remarks to publiccomment@joliet.gov by email beforehand. There will also be time throughout the meeting for citizens to voice their opinions on agenda issues; each speaker will have a maximum of four minutes. It is crucial to remember that this part of the discussion is intended to give residents a direct chance to express their opinions to the Commission rather than to serve as a Q&A session.

A Secretary's Report, a Closed Sessions to address state law personnel issues, and the outcome of the hearing on Alfonso Sanchez's allegations are on the agenda. A public comment opportunity on non-agenda topics will be offered after these items.

Participation at meetings should be courteous, according to the City of Joliet. Speakers who act inappropriately or disruptively run the danger of being summoned to order and losing their turn to speak.

The conference space satisfies all ADA accessibility requirements. It is advised that anyone in need of an adequate modification call the City Clerk's Office in advance at (815) 724-3780.

This and other special meetings demonstrate the city's continued dedication to openness, due process, including community participation. To make sure their opinions are heard, residents are urged to attend or leave comments.
