David Anthony Burke, known professionally as d4vd, is currently receiving a lot of backlash after a teen girl was found dead and decomposing in an impounded Tesla registered in his name.

D4vd released “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide” in 2022, and they gained widespread popularity on social media, more specifically TikTok. He kicked off his tour earlier in August and officially canceled his remaining tour dates on September 19. This was in response to being under investigation for the teen girl’s death. D4vd has also cancelled his European and Australian tour dates, as well as postponed the release of his deluxe version of his album.

The girl has been identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas. Rivas was reported as a runaway by her family in April of 2024 when she was just 13 years-old. She was discovered in the trunk of the Tesla after it was impounded from a Los Angeles street. The Tesla had been found abandoned on the street in Los Angeles and was impounded on September 6. Police made the discovery on September 8 after reports were made of a foul odor coming from the Tesla.

The circumstances of her death remain under investigation still. She appeared to have been dead for some time prior to being discovered in the trunk. D4vd has been cooperative with the police throughout the investigation.

Speculators believe that d4vd had been involved with Rivas based on posts that have been circulating with what looks like pictures of them together. People have also pointed out that they have matching tattoos saying “Shhh” on their pointer fingers. Additionally, in an unreleased song he references a girl named Celeste throughout the chorus. Speculators claim he has been hinting at Rivas’ death for weeks starting when he kicked off his tour and held a “funeral” for his alter ego portrayed in his music videos.

This is all speculation at this point as the investigation is still ongoing.
