Disability Resource Center


 The Disability Resource Center is an organization in the Joliet area with the goal of helping people with disabilities strive for independence. This center is a non-profit organization that operates on grants and other forms of contributions such as partnerships with other organizations. The Disability Resource Center is also an organization that provides resources for people with disabilities such as Joliet Junior College (JJC), which helps students with disabilities strive in academic and workplace settings and people first language such as, "People with disabilities". They also give out services to assist anyone within this very community with services, one of them centered around independent living.

The Disability Resource Center also hosts events that center around topics surrounding disability and advocacy. This center also publishes a newsletter that started in spring of 2021 that receives updates every couple seasons (Spring and Fall). This Joliet business offers services across the Will County area as well as the neighboring Grundy County area. This center also partners with organizations such as Goodshop and sponsors centered around business and residential. This organization also publishes annual appeals to make sure accessible options are still relevant for Will and Grundy County.

The Disability Resource Center of Joliet Illinois is one of many places in America with the goal of bringing inclusivity and equality for American citizens with disabilities. Disability inclusivity is also an important factor in an academic (Kindergarten through college) settings through accommodations which helps students with disabilities strive by having them go work on assignments, quizzes and tests at their own comfort level. The support systems given through any disability resource center is important as they help people with disabilities feel less left out of any challenge given to them along with making them feel like they can strive for anything that comes in life.
