St. Peter Lutheran Church is located at 310 N Broadway St in Joliet Ill. This church has been in Joliet for over 150 years. The church is currently led by Rev. David W Totsky Sunday's at 9:00 a.m. with Bible Study following at 10:30 a.m. A unique way to listen to their service is to tune in online to WJOL (1340 AM) at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Three main beliefs that identify the church are: gospel-centered, Christ-centered, and Confessional Lutheran.

Being gospel-centered as a church means that they highly value the gift that God has given to humans: the gift of salvation. They focus on this instead of trying to live perfectly for God. The Christ-centered focus means they teach and preach based on Jesus dying for us. This is what mended human relationships with God. And finally, the third focus, Confessional Lutheran. According to their website, this means that they believe the Bible is the verbally inspired and inerrant Word of God. This also means that they believe the Nicene, Apostles' and Athanasian Creeds are accurate statements of the Christian faith. The other document that they believe correctly interprets the Bible is The Book of Concord of 1580, this serves as a standard for Lutheran teachings and living.

Catechesis is a program that has been at St. Peter for two years. It is a four-year program that teaches Christians how to continuously learn from His Word. It has an academic structure but teaches lifelong habits of faith. The word Catechesis means to echo in Greek. This program "echoes" questions and answers in the Small Catechism by Dr. Martin Luther. This writing is a summary of the basic teachings of the Christian faith. There are teachings for students in fifth through eighth grade on Wednesday's from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Adults can learn during the Adult Bible Studies that are offered. During the Sunday service, or Divine Service, members are given the opportunity to put what they learn into action.

St. Peter Lutheran Church looks to Jesus alone for salvation. There is always more to learn from the church website stpeterjoliet.org.
