Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announce engagement

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement to the public early last week in an Instagram post on Swift’s profile. The post captioned “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married” took the world by storm last Tuesday.

Taylor Swift is best known for her long-standing popularity as a country-turned-pop star is commonly associated with the stereotypical break-up song. Swift has made millions making songs and albums centered on her breakups and overall relationship misfortunes throughout the years.

Travis Kelce is the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs and has led them to Super Bowl wins in 2020, 2023 and most recently in 2024. Kelce was drafted in 2013 and has gone on to hold the franchise record for pass catchers with 157 receptions of 20 or more yards.

Swift and Kelce started dating sometime in the summer of 2023 after Travis expressed interest in her on the podcast, New Heights, that he hosts with his brother Jason Kelce. Their relationship gained speculation by the public in September of 2023 when Swift, a proud Philadelphia Eagles fan, was seen attending a Kansas City Chiefs game.

In October of 2023, Swift and Kelce made surprise cameos on Saturday Night Live and were spotted holding hands in New York City, making their romantic relationship more public.

Fans are in awe of the engagement ring sported by Swift, measuring in at 10 carats of diamonds, an 18-karat gold band and a bezel setting. The ring has already been shared and posted to thousands of Pinterest boards in just this last week.

Although Swift and Kelce announced their engagement just this last week, Ed Kelce, father to Jason and Travis Kelce, reported in an interview that they were engaged for almost two weeks before they made their official announcement to social media. Travis left no stone unturned, making sure Swift got a fairytale engagement of her dreams.
