A Wilmington man is facing criminal charges after he assaulted a woman.
Cory Durflinger, 42, is facing five criminal charges after he physically attacked a woman earlier last week. Will County deputies responded to a call from Lake Will Recreation Club on Stripmine Road that reported a domestic incident. The victim of this incident spoke with police alleging Durflinger had bit her feet while she was sleeping, beat her with a closed fist and attempted to stop her while she tried to call police.
According to the Joliet Patch, the victim reported, "I was sound asleep, and Cory came home and took off my sock and started chewing on my toes."
Durflinger would then continue to verbally attack the victim and her mother before burning his clothes and demanding that the victim provide him with new clothes, the Joliet Patch reports. The assailant would proceed to argue with the victim before hitting her with a closed fist and shoving her against a wall. Durflinger took the phones of the victim and her mother, damaging one of the screens so neither could call law enforcement.
The victim called Will County deputies the next day to report the incident which resulted in the arrest of Durflinger.
The 42-year-old has officially been charged with four counts of domestic battery and one count of interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.
This is one of many convictions Durflinger has received. Earlier this year, he was charged with possession of meth. He was also charged with domestic battery three years prior in 2017. In 2000, Durflinger served a four-year prison sentence for attempted criminal sexual assault. The 42 year-old has previously been booked in Albertville, Alabama for failure to appear.
Durflinger will remain in Will County jail indefinitely per the SAFE-T-Act.
