 Dan's Homemade Candies is a small candy shop off Plainfield Road and East Cass Street in the Joliet area. This shop sells a wide range of sweet treats such as chocolate malt balls, candy apples, popcorn and even their best sellers (Barks, assorted chocolates, dandies and caramels). Dan's Homemade Candies has been around since 1919 with a sheer determination to serve the Joliet community with the fresh homemade treats that they serve on a daily basis.

Dan's Homemade Candies is also good for delivering their product all across Joliet. Their western location (Plainfield Road) is open from 9:00am to 5:30pm Mondays through Saturday's and closed on Sunday's, as for the eastern location (East Cass Street) they are also open from 9:00am to 5:30pm Mondays through Friday's. Dan's Homemade Candies was founded by Dan McGowan alongside his wife with the passion of serving the community with fresh homemade candies.

Dan's Homemade Candies also serves sugar free treats, hard candies and novelty treats. One of the busiest days for Dan's Homemade Candies is Valentine's Day as it's traditionally a day where people buy chocolates for their boyfriend, girlfriend and non-binary partner. With a city as big as Joliet the amount if customers per day can range from a variety of people each day. Dan's Homemade Candies is the type of business that reminds you of the businesses seen in movies like Wonka (Chocolate factory prequel) minus the greedy rich people who tried to take Willy Wonka down. The founder of Dan's Homemade Candies (Dan McGowan) had hoped that the values of this business would continue on into the next century, little does he know those hopes had come true. This is just one of many small businesses in the Joliet area with the strength and passion to keep wholesome small business values alive in a country with a ton of corporate giants such as the M&M's company.

Joliet Fire and Police Commissioners Announce Special Meeting

 The Council Chambers, located on the second level of Joliet City Hall at 150 West Jefferson Street, will host a special meeting of the City of Joliet Boards of Fire and Police Commissioners on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 5:30 PM. A number of significant issues pertaining to city operations and staff will be discussed at this meeting.  The public is welcome to attend, as is the case with all city meetings.  September 13, 2025, Joliet, IL — The annual Fiestas Patrias Mexican Independence Day Parade, which honors heritage, service, and the thriving Mexican-American population that has shaped the city, is scheduled for Saturday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m. in the City of Joliet.  As it celebrates local Mexican-American soldiers and community figures who have made enduring contributions to Joliet and the country, this year's parade will have extra meaning.
