Joliet man charged with shooting and stabbing

Two men were hurt in a shooting and stabbing in Joliet Township on Tuesday, and a 25-year-old guy is now being charged with a felony.
The Will County Sheriff's Office says Maximiliano Lara has been charged with an aggravated battery/use of a deadly weapon, which is a crime. Officials from the sheriff's office said that more charges could be brought as the probe goes on.Around 11:45 a.m., deputies were called to the 1400 block of Elgin Avenue because there had been reports of a shooting. Police said that when they got there, they found a 66-year-old guy with a gunshot wound to his leg. The man was taken to a nearby hospital to get help.
A second person with a stab wound was also found at the scene. Deputies said the man got help right away at the scene and was then let go. Officials have not yet given out information about his health.
The investigators haven't given any more details about what happened or suggested a possible reason for what happened. Lara was taken into custody, according to the sheriff's office, but information about her bond was not available right away.
The sheriff's office said that detectives are still talking to witnesses and gathering proof. As the case goes on, more information may be made public.
