This Wednesday, Nov.18, the University of St. Francis (USF) men’s and women’s basketball teams will host their first doubleheader of the season in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) matchup. Both teams will host Viterbo University at home at the Pat Sullivan Center, with the women playing first at 5 p.m. and the men following them with a projected start time of 7 p.m.

The women’s team comes into the game a perfect 6-0 to begin their season, including winning their first conference game against Governors State on Saturday. They have won every game by at least a double digit lead, including four games where they lead by over 30 points.

Senior guards Tykara Harrison and Le’Lani Harris have both scored their 1,000th collegiate point thus far in the season while leading the team in scoring with 15 and 13.3 points per game respectively. Symonne Harrell, who made a name for herself as a freshman last season, returns as a starter this season and leads the team in rebounds with 6.2 per game.

The men’s team has played in three exhibition games prior to Wednesday’s home opener for them, with the game also being the first one that will go on record. Like in previous seasons, coach Ryan Marks set up exhibitions against National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) teams prior to the CCAC schedule.

While USF lost all these games, there were positives that came out of these games, especially playing opponents at this level. Senior Joffery Nunnally looks to have taken the reins for the scoring, putting up double digit points in all three games including 26 against St. Edwards University. The team’s free throw percentage has also been a strength, shooting over 70% at the line in each of their three games.

Their opponents, Viterbo University, have not gotten off to the best start of their seasons. The women’s team comes in with a record of 1-5, with all the losses being by double digits. The men’s team comes to USF with a record of 2-3 having not won a game in over 2 weeks going into tomorrow's game.
