After a perfect three win week for the men’s basketball team of the University of St. Francis, they swept the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) player of the week awards, which were named on Dec. 2. The team won their CCAC matchup against Judson University on Nov. 25 before going 2-0 in the St. Francis Thanksgiving Classic in their games versus Marian University and Cumberland University.

On the offensive side of the ball, redshirt junior forward Merrick Small, who hails from Ipswich, Australia, won Offensive CCAC Player of the Week for week five of the season. Small averaged 19.3 points a game including two 20 point games in the Thanksgiving Classic, along with grabbing 8.7 rebounds and shooting 62.9% from the field. He also posted his first double-double of the season during the week, putting up 13 points and 13 rebounds in the win against Judson.

On the other side of the ball, senior guard Joffery Nunnally was awarded with Defensive CCAC Player of the Week for the fifth week of the men’s basketball season. In the three games, Nunnally held his matchups to 11 points under their season averages thus far, and held his opponents to just a 25% shooting from the field and only allowed one three-pointer in the three games. He also was a threat on the offensive end as well, averaging 15.4 points per game including leading the team with 22 in the game against Judson.

The fighting saints will look to continue their perfect start to the season on Wednesday Dec. 3 in a non-conference matchup at Eureka College, before hosting Holy Cross College on Saturday Dec. 6 in their next CCAC game.
