Take your Journey to Bethlehem this season

BY: Morgan Jensen Faith United is hosting a live nativity story, titled "Journey to Bethlehem", on December 5 and 6. Faith United is a Presbyterian Church located in Tinley Park at 6200 167th St. The live nativity will run from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30. This is a good way to learn about Jesus' birth. Faith United Presbyterian Church is a church that provides a very inclusive ministry. They practice empathy as a crucial part of focusing on Jesus as the common ground. This helps to fulfill their mission "Know God, Grow in Faith, Serve Others." Despite some differences among members they remain "Faith United" through the love of Jesus. The walkthrough live nativity will take about 15 to 20 minutes to get through. There are seven vignettes that depict Jesus' birth story. Vignettes are short, descriptive, evocative stories. City of Joliet Communication, Technology & Information Systems Committee Meeting

 City officials said that the Communication, technological, and Information Systems Committee of the City of Joliet will meet on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. to go over some important technological and public safety ideas. The meeting will be held in the Executive Conference Room on the second story of Joliet City Hall, which is at 150 West Jefferson Street. The first thing that will happen in the meeting is roll call, and then the minutes from the committee's last meeting on October 1, 2025, will be approved. People who can't make there can send their views in ahead of time by emailing publiccomment@joliet.gov. People who are there in person will also be able to speak during two public comment times, with each speaker getting up to four minutes. City rules say that committee members don't usually reply directly to public comments. If comments disturb the meeting, speakers may be asked to stop. Craft'd of Plainfield hosting a release party

 Craft'd, a local restaurant in Plainfield, Illinois is known as an establishment that serves burgers, appetizers and other types of classic entrees. On Saturday at 11a.m, Craft'd hosted a release party for Goose Island's new beer brand, Stout. Whenever a company that distributes beer, wine or any other alcoholic beverage has a bar and restaurant with a liquor license to serve their beverage in a release party, it shows how the company themself has total confidence in their product. Despite the positive feedback that a brewery gets from a release party, there is always one person or more that would have negative opinions on the subject itself.  These types of events usually cater to small towns as they typically have a high population of bars and restaurants with a liquor license. Photo via: gofightingsaints.com By Rodolfo Flores After a perfect three win week for the men’s basketball team of the University of St. Francis, they swept the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) player of the week awards, which were named on Dec. 2. The team won their CCAC matchup against Judson University on Nov. 25 before going 2-0 in the St. Francis Thanksgiving Classic in their games versus Marian University and Cumberland University.  On the offensive side of the ball, redshirt junior forward Merrick Small, who hails from Ipswich, Australia, won Offensive CCAC Player of the Week for week five of the season. Small averaged 19.3 points a game including two 20 point games in the Thanksgiving Classic, along with grabbing 8.7 rebounds and shooting 62.9% from the field. He also posted his first double-double of the season during the week, putting up 13 points and 13 rebounds...

Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-run on Route 53

Photo via: Joliet Patch A bicyclist has been killed in a crash in Elwood.  De’Avion Smith, originally from New Orleans, was the victim of a fatal hit-and-run after a truck allegedly struck him while he was riding his bicycle.        On the morning of Nov. 25, Illinois State troopers responded to Route 53 southbound at Thele Road in Elwood for a report of a body lying on the ground.  When officers arrived at the scene they discovered the body of a young man who had been struck by a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.  According to state police, the crash occurred sometime between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 24. The vehicle that struck Smith was traveling southbound on Route 53 and is believed to be a black 2007-2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, police say. Christkindlmarket is a German Christmas tradition that began in Medieval Germany as a way for people to stock up on food and other necessities before winter began. As the tradition spread, the market began to have more of a Christmas focus and housed specialty foods, gifts and festive vendors.  The Christkindlmarket in Chicago originally began in 1996 and spread to Aurora in 2022. Aurora hosts the Christkindlmarket in RiverEdge Park, located at 360 N Broadway, Aurora, IL 60505. The Christkindlmarket runs from Thanksgiving Day to Christmas Eve. 83 year-old-man Arrest for DUI

Photo via: Will County Jail   A Joliet man has been arrested after he crashed into a building while under the influence. Arthur Vidmar, 83, was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 20 after he allegedly drank “a pint of vodka” and crashed into the KFC on Larkin Avenue.  According to the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, Vidmar was driving through the KFC drive-thru around 4 p.m. As he exited the drive-thru, he struck the side of the building, drove over the sidewalk and then over the street curb into Larkin Avenue. He continued driving West, crossed the median and began heading towards the southbound lane on Larkin Avenue.  Prosecutors say Vidmar "could not successfully complete the rest of the 90-degree turn and struck the essentially stationary Honda Pilot”.  The driver of the Honda was a 67-year-old victim who was heading east on Oneida Street waiting at a stop sign about to turn right.  ​​ "The Honda had moved only slightly past the traffic light.
